-Overview-
Secure24 is a newly founded startup providing 24/7 remote reception and facilities monitoring for independent gym and leisure centers in the UK. They had outgrown their SOHO and were plagued with network performance issues affecting daily operations.
-Objectives-
Allow for additional bandwidth
WAN failover
Facilitate VoIP system
Implement WLAN
Improve network security
-Solution-
As all the targets above are needed and the budget is limited, we opted for the Ubiquiti Unifi ecosystem.
This included Unifi Dream Machine SE to handle all the routing, Security and act as a wireless lan controller. For added redundancy, we utilised both WAN ports on the UDMSE to terminal a primary lease line and cellular connections. Enhancing this, we implemented IPSLA connectivity which fails if the service is degraded. Stateful firewall rules were configured to block any malicious traffic from reaching the inside network.
The Dream Machine SE also plays the role of wireless lan controller for two new corp and guest SSIDS.
Finally, a 48port Poe switch was installed for the VoiP, Access Points and client machines.
-Benefits-
Secure24 now greatly benefits from the increase of ports speeds from 100mbps to 1gbps.
Operational outages are no longer a concern given the WAN redundancy implemented using dual carriers.
The solution implemented allows for future growth of the business whilst keeping the environment safe from threat actors.
All work was complete within budget and on schedule. High availability to be implemented in the near future.
